Yes Bears fans, it’s that time again….Warm up the chili, crack open the beers, and let the Cutler debate begin. I’ll start by saying my opinion of Jay is this, he is one hell of a QB for the Bears. He’s tough, he’s gritty, his team loves him, and let’s face it, he doesn’t give a shit what we think. Before Cutler there was uhhh…ummm…*chirp*….*chirp*….Yup, that’s right, a bunch of nobodies.
The Chicago sky were out coached and outplayed the entire series as they fell to the Phoenix Mercury 87-82, surrendering a WNBA Finals sweep. They played well and had a chance to take the game with a 9-0 run late in the third. The Mercury were too much to handle as both Diana Taurasi and Candice Dupree scored 24 points for Phoenix and Taurasi with a 3 point play to go up three with just under 15 seconds left. Elena Delle Donne Finished with 23, Sylvia Fowles scored 20 and Allie Quigley finished with 19. This was the Chicago Sky’s first appearance in the WNBA Finals and hopefully will not be their last. USA Basketball won their match up against Lithuania 96-68 behind Kyrie Irvings 18 points. It was an aggressive, physical game where a lot of USA’s starters were on the bench early with foul trouble. USA did as they have appeared to have done most of the games in this tournament, keep it close early on. Continue reading

USA Basketball had their way in the second half with Slovenia, scoring 37 points in the 3rd and 33 points in the 4th quarter to end the game with a convincing 43 point victory. Klay Thompson led the team in scoring with 20 points, as Derrick Rose led the team in assists with 5. On top of the 5 assists, Derrick showed speed as he went the length of the court in a flash and split 4 Slovenia players for a layup. Continue reading
Well… today was QUITE the day of sports news.
The Chicago Sky were never in the game on Sunday as they opened the WNBA Finals against Phoenix. They were down 15 – 8 after the first and it was downhill from there. Despite contributions from Fowles and Quigley , Elena Delle Donne only had 2 points in 10 minutes of action and sat out the entire second half due to back pain. The Chicago Sky scored 28 in the 4th quarter and tried to make a run but it was too late the damage was done. They were not playing good basketball and could not get into a good rhythm anytime in the first half. This series could be over if Elena Dell Donne heal up and stay out on the court to help out her team. The Chicago Sky will play game 2 of the WNBA Finals on Tuesday at 8:00 CST on ESPN.
Well… that is not the kind of start the Chicago Bears were looking for. Jay Cutler and company are under their second year of the Marc Trestman system, and it seemed to be firing on all cylinders in the beginning of the game. After an early stop from the defense, which looked solid in the first series, and a big play from Alshon Jeffery, Cutler hit Marty Bennett for a touchdown to give the Bears an early 7-0 lead.
